ICL Lifts Championship at Navi Mumbai Krida Mahotsav organised by Shri Sanjeev Naik

Krida Mahotsav one of the biggest sporting extravaganzas in the cyber city,came to an end on Thursday with much fanfare. Vashi based ICLES Motilal Jhunjhunwala College(Popularly known as ICL) topped the table among over a hundred Schools and Junior Colleges from Navi Mumbai Krida sankul Organised by Navi Mahotsav-09, Ehich culminated after a four day spectacular show on the Navi Mumbai Sports Association ground.
Jubilant ICL Principal Jayshree Daoo and Sports director Mansee Madare received the trophy with her little champs from the Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. Daoo received the championship trophy, along with a cash prize of Rs.11,00 at a giterring prize distribution cereomony attended by thousands of athletes,sports teachers and a string of corporators. The tournament saw the participation of many age gropus, like under-12,under-14,under-16, for boys and girls. The competition was segregated into two segments for private institutes and municipal schools.
Champion ICL athletes scored 109 points in field and track events,kabaddi,volley ball, football and kho kho competitions. most of the points for ICL came from the track and field events with 54 points, as the atheletes dominated the turf on all three days. The winner for ICL In the individual events included Dipesh Sawant,Sonam Jaiswal,Kerena Nadar,Kishore Mahulkar,Priyesh Naik,Akshay Mhatre,Tanvi Angre and Vishakha Choudhary. In the team events, ICL won titles in the under-19 boys and girls cricket, under nineteen girls volleyball, under nineteen girls football, under 19 boys and gilrs team relay.
“We managed to break the monopoly of traditional champions Radhikabai Meghe Vidyalaya(RMV), who had been winning the trophy for a few years now. This was one of our biggest achievements, emerging as the champion among so many schools and colleges, in the city,”Said and ecstatic ICL Principal Daoo.
ICL was followed by defending champions RMV and R.F.Naik's Performance was seen in kho kho,kabbadi,football,and volleyball. While RMV won titles in the boys under-14 and under-16,R F Naik Claimed the under-12 boys and under 12 girls crowns in kho kho Dnyan Vikas high school and R F Naik shared the kabbadi titlesin various age groups.Tilak college boys bagged the under-19 volley ball title, While father Agnel boys won the football title in the school level.
Some of the Institutes that participated including St.Xaviers-Airoli,Modern College,Shreeram Vidyalaya, St.Marys-koparkhairane,Vidya Prasarak-Belapur,DAV-Nerul,Amrita Vidyalam,Terna Vidyalaya,Vashi English School,Navi Mumbai High school and Pandit Motilal School. The individual winners got Rs.1000 to Rs.500 and Rs.300 cash prizes with gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. In the team events, the first and second place winners received Rs.3000 and Rs.2000 in different age groups and disciplines. A few of the individual winners included Ayush Shetty,Mitul Oswal,Amir Mohd Khan,Roshan Jha,Satyandra Yadav,Amkar Amin,Neha Panhalo,Ankita Kunte,Monica Jadhav,Ashlesha Patil,Aishwarya Shinde and Manisha Singh.
Sanjeev Naik, Head of Navi Mumbai Krida Sankul Said, “We have been successful in organizing the biggest ever sports festival in the satellite city since its inception. We came up in 1992 to promote the Growth of sport and sportsmanship in Navi Mumbai. As a Sportsman, I can understand the trauma faced by children who have the potential to push the limits. It is for this very reason we have given away a cash prize of Rs.4 Lakh to all the Winners in each and every category and game, in order to enhance their Confidential levels so that they may be able to achieve higher feats.”
