RTO Commences ITS 20TH Road Safety Week in Navi Mumbai with Dr.Sanjeev Naik

With the rising of the New Year, road safety week is being held in the entire country. The inauguration of the campaign in Navi Mumbai was done by the Regional Transport Office of Navi Mumbai at the Central Facilities building of RTO.
At the inauguration ceremony, were present Navi Mumbai Mayor Anjani Bhoir, first Mayor of Navi Mumbai Dr. Sanjeev Naik, NMMT Transport Manager Jitendra Papalkar, RTO Officer Bharat Kalashkar and others. The ceremony began with a street play, conveying message to the auto rickshaw drivers about taking care of safety measures as well as improving their behavior with the passengers. Normally Road safety week is held for a week, but Navi Mumbai RTO has planned to carry out this awareness campaign for the entire month. Informed Deputy RTO officer Bharat Kalaskar, that the drive is to educate the young citizens about the safety measures that are to be followed. According to him, out of the accidents taking place in the country, 35% to 40% are the youngsters killed in the accidents.
We also spoke to Anjani Bhoir who expressed her views about the importance of the campaign. Former Mayor Dr. Sanjeev Naik too stressed more on the usage of helmet and seat belts at the time of driving vehicles. He also informed us about installing CNG stations in various nodes of the city to control pollution due to vehicles. NMMT Transport Manager Jitendra Papalkar also informed about starting an educational programme for the NMMT bus drivers. The ceremony ended with a car rally that emphasized on usage of helmets and seat belts. As a part of the campaign, a rally will be held on 26th Janaury, named Save Young India, for educating the youngsters about the safety measures.
